Hymn to Love

Hymn To LoveCaroline Bonnett
00:00 / 03:22

Shaken,

Shaken to the core, my love he’s taken

Up through heaven’s door

The children wait for him

No more of daddy’s kiss goodnight

Woken, woken by the knock, his body broken

Crushed beneath the rock

Of blackened gold, the seams of coal

That robbed his breath of life

Ring out the bells

Dig out the wells of love

Ring out the bells

This story tells of love

Leaving, leaving what we’ve known, tho’ we’re still grieving

The loss of all to come

With heads held high we’ll say goodbye

To walk this path alone

Ring out the bells

Dig out the wells of love

Ring out the bells

This story tells of love

Hoping, hoping that we thrive, instead just

Coping, fighting to survive

The children wait for him

And cry for daddy’s kiss goodnight
